ONEymoon

Conceived, cowritten and performed by the Toronto based dynamo Christel Bartelse, ONEymoon tells the story of a woman who decides to marry herself.

With ambiguous feelings about the institution of marriage and unwilling to commit to anything less than perfection, Caroline opts to reinvent a long standing social convention. The audience joins Caroline as her family and friends on her unusual wedding day and follow along on her beach vacation her honeymoon for one. Filled with zany wit, improv, dance and song, Caroline pokes holes in our notions of "wedded bliss" – but ultimately finds that even a longterm relationship with herself has its pitfalls.

A theatrical Jackieofalltrades, singer, dancer, actor, producer, writer, clown, teacher and comedienne Christel Bartelse recently wowed Fringe audiences with her onewoman show CHAOTICA, which toured Ottawa, Wakefield, and Saskatoon; as well as winning the BestinVenue Impressario Award and a nomination for the Brickenden Award for Outstanding Touring Production in London. This show also commanded sold out performances at North America's largest and most competitive Fringe in Edmonton, and has played Toronto twice – at the Festival of Clowns and at The Theatre Centre.

This year she is joined by the multiaward winning Fringe veteran (and reallife partner) Jimmy Hogg, who cowrites and directs, and two standout choreographers, Dora award winning tapper Shawn Byfield and Sarah Doucett of the legendary Holy Body Tattoo.

ONEymoon plays at the Toronto Fringe Festival at 918 Bathurst, a new BYOV Fringe venue just north of Bloor. Tickets are $10 and available through the Toronto Fringe Hotline at 4169661062 or online at www.fringetoronto.com
