CRACK’d Synopsis:

Trace Morgan’s mother is dead. Trace will do whatever it takes to forget and fill the void. She begins as your waitress, desperately trying to escape and avoid the pain of loss. She then journeys to an earlier part of life when she is a young and thoughtful child dissecting love and her mother. Through bouts of ‘emotional overload’, jack daniels and sexual escapades, she fumbles through her grief, eventually finding that the journey is in the art of letting go. “Montgomery’s body movement, physical gestures, demented dance through words and space, her verbal virtuosity in delivering a rich text full of twists and turns, all this imprints the performance on the mind after one leaves the theatre. Montgomery is the author of the play as well as its performer, and she’s one to watch for her future stage work.” (Sharon Pollock, CBC)

* After Each performance Montgomery will Host Scratch Night: An opportunity to expose Toronto Talent
Artists: Adam Lazarus, Daniel Nimmo, Ronley Teper and the Lipliners, Aisha Sasha John, Falen Johnson, Jayson MacDonald, These Boots, Kristian Reimer, Chris Jackman, Meagan O’Shea, Smells Like the 80’s, Red One Theatre, Deanna Jones and more…

“Catherine Montgomery's Crack'd is…bare-boned, personal, fiercely unique, and just a tad bit dangerous .…CRACK'd, with its high energy and raw, emotional display is an assault on all fronts, proving itself to be a beautiful example of the powers of live theatre.” ” Matt Roberson, NY Theatre.com

Think Heath Ledger’s Joker in a tiaraMontgomery is a virtual force of nature onstage.”

Joff Schmidt, CBC Winnipeg “Watching it is like grabbing the end of that electrical wire with a short. You just can’t let go. It won’t let you. It’s highly charged…And it’s funny. Very funny and strangely touching.” Sharon Pollock, CBC
